James Bradberry (Samford) recorded his second interception of the season in the first quarter of the New Giants’ win over the Washington Football Team. Late in the first quarter, Bradberry had a 19-yard interception that set the Giants up with the ball midfield. Bradberry has 16 solo tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and 10 passes defended throughout the first six weeks of the 2020 NFL season.
Buster Skrine (Chattanooga) was named Defensive Player of the Game after his Week 5 performance during the Thursday Night Football game between the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This week, he had four solo tackles and one assist in the Bears’ 23-19 win over the Carolina Panthers. Skrine now has 22 solo tackles on the season.
Younghoe Koo (Georgia Southern) scored a season-high 16 points during the Atlanta Falcons’ 40-23 win over the Minneapolis Vikings. Koo went 4-for-4 on both field goals and point after attempts. This is the second time this season, and second straight week, he has made a field goal from the 50+ yard range.
Matt Breida (Georgia Southern) touched the ball eight times on Sunday, with 15 rushing yards and 7 receiving yards as the Dolphins shut out the Jets, 24-0.
Two former SoCon football players battled it out Monday on Monday Night Football. Daniel Kilgore (Appalachian State) made his first start of the season at center under the Monday night lights when the Kansas City Chiefs took home a win against the Buffalo Bills. The Bills’ Andre Roberts (The Citadel) returned a kick for 29 yards and had a punt return for 24 yards.
Jerick McKinnon (Georgia Southern) and the San Francisco 49ers took home a win against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. McKinnon has six carries for 18 yards and two receptions for 10 yards.
Sam Martin (Appalachian State) punted twice for a total of 77 yards in the Denver Broncos’ 18-12 win over the New England Patriots.
