GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro men's basketball player Isaiah Miller was named to the 2019-20 Lute Olson Award Mid-Season Watch List on Tuesday. The award is presented annually to the most outstanding men's college basketball player in NCAA Division I competition. Miller is one of 30 players in the nation named to this year's watch list and is one of just 14 from outside the Power 5 conferences to be recognized.
With an average of 17.9 points per game, Miller currently leads the Spartans in scoring while his 37 steals rank 13th in the nation. The junior guard has already converted 118 field goal attempts this year to put himself 12th in Division I basketball and among the top 50 scorers in the country. With less than three full years wearing a UNCG uniform, Miller has already written his name into the Spartan record books, with his 1,128 points ranking 19th in program history and his 189 career steals sitting just 47 away from a new program record. The native of Covington, Georgia, has been on fire recently, dropping a career-high 31 points against Mercer last week before following up with 28 against Wofford. He leads the Spartans into a 7 p.m. tipoff against ETSU on Wednesday at the Greensboro Coliseum in an attempt to win the side's third matchup of the Southern Conference season.
The Lute Olson Award is named in honor of Hall of Fame coach Lute Olson, who won 776 games in 34 seasons with Long Beach, Iowa and Arizona. The 2019-20 Lute Olson National Player of the Year Award will be announced in April 2020 in Atlanta, Georgia, site of the men's Division I NCAA Basketball Championship.
