ATLANTA, Ga. – The Mercer women's tennis team was swept by Georgia Tech in a doubleheader on Tuesday evening at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.
The Bears dropped set one, 7-0, before falling in match two, 4-0. In the first match, the Bears Alara Hollyfield took the first set over No. 73 ITA singles player, Gia Cohen, 7-5. Cohen answered back taking the second set 6-3. Hollyfield and Cohen played a super tiebreak and Holly field came out just short falling 10-7.
Mercer continued to battle in the second match of the day. After dropping the doubles point, Mercer's Maeva Roquebert took the first set over No. 73 Cohen 6-1 in No. 1 singles. Cohen answered back and took set to 6-3, but the match went unfinished. Marie Mottet trailed after dropping set one but was tied 3-3 in set two before going unfinished.
