SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Campbell’s Noah Gonser has been named the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for all competition from Jan. 8-14. The selection is made by the league office.

Gonser posted an impressive 3-0 record on Jan. 11 at the Duals on the Diamond in Phoenix, Arizona. He knocked off a pair of nationally ranked opponents at 133 pounds and led the Camels to wins over 11^th-ranked Iowa State and Harvard. The Grand Blanc, Michigan, native began the day with an overtime victory over 21^st-ranked Todd Small from Iowa State. Gonser’s decision played a key role in the 22-14 upset of the nationally ranked Cyclones. The redshirt senior picked up his second win of the day with a pin of 14^th-ranked Joshua Krammer of Arizona State. Gonser’s bonus-point win gave Campbell an early advantage but the seventh-ranked Sun Devils rallied to take the match 21-18. He closed the day with a 17-2 technical fall victory over Harvard’s Michael Jaffe, helping Campbell finish out with a 27-9 win. Gonser is now 20-5 overall this season and ranks as high as ninth at 133 pounds.

The weekly award is the first of Gonser’s career.

The Camels will return to action on Jan. 18 at 5 p.m. when they host The Citadel for a SoCon dual.
