SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel’s Kaelon Harris has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week presented by GEICO for all contests from Jan. 7-13 after posting a double-double in a close loss at Wofford. The award is selected by the league office.

The senior forward/guard scored a career-high 32 points and matched his season high with 12 rebounds in The Citadel’s 73-71 loss at Wofford on Saturday, coming off the bench after missing the Bulldogs’ previous game. Harris connected on 11 of his 19 field-goal attempts (.579), matching his career highs in both makes and attempts, while turning in his seventh career double-double and sixth this season. The Atlanta, Georgia, native, who drew eight fouls on the day, was 8-for-10 from the free-throw line and connected on a pair of 3-pointers.

Harris has scored in double figures in eight straight contests and leads the Bulldogs with 15.0 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.

The Citadel (6-9, 0-4 SoCon) hosts UNC Greensboro (13-5, 3-2) on Wednesday before visiting military rival VMI (5-13, 0-5) on Saturday.
