SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford’s Becca Earl has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Sept. 18-24.

Earl shot a record 4-under-par 209 to finish second individually and help her team to a second place finish at the Elon Invitational in Burlington, North Carolina. The Essex, England, native opened with an even-par opening round and an impressive 5-under 66 in the second 18 of the day. Earl used a birdie on hole No. 17 to close out her final round with a 1-over 72 and take sole possession of second place.

Earl set two individual records during the tournament, and the Terriers also broke the 54-hole record as a team, totaling 875 over three rounds. Her 54-hole score of 209 set a new program record, besting the previous record of 214 by five strokes and her 5-under 66 in the second round beat the previous low round by two strokes.  

In her two tournaments this season, Earl has finished tied for second and second, ranking in the top 10 in stroke average for Southern Conference women’s golfers.

The weekly award is Earl’s first of her career.

The Terriers have a week off before returning to the course on Oct. 6 when they open play at the Winthrop Fall Invitational.
