SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s Dillon Dean and McKenzie Hogue have been named the Southern Conference men’s and women’s runners of the week, respectively, for competition that took place Sept. 4-10.

Dean, a senior, led the Samford men in their season opener at the Falcon Classic as he finished first individually. The Alexander, Alabama, native clocked a time of 24:33.38 in his victory in the 8k race at the Montevallo Cross Country Course.

Hogue, a freshman, put on a tremendous showing in her first race as a Bulldog. Hogue took the individual crown as she crossed the finish line with a time of 18:07.07 in the 5k race, which was also a personal best, and led the way as the Bulldogs claimed the team title in the women’s race.

Samford will be back in action Friday, Sept. 20, when they run at the 2019 Wingfoot Cross Country Classic in Atlanta, Georgia.
