SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Olivier Stuart has been named the Southern Conference men’s tennis player of the week for all matches played April 2-8 the conference announced Tuesday. The honor is Stuart’s second of the season.

Stuart went 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles on the week. He remains undefeated in conference play at No. 1 singles after adding a pair of straight-set wins.  

In singles action, the native of Bussy Saint-Georges, France, picked up a 6-1, 6-3 nonconference win over Georgia Southern’s Antonio Muniz on April 3 in the top spot. The junior won 6-0, 6-1 against UNCG’s top player, Ollie Palmer, on April 7 before downing Furman’s Ivan Mitric 6-2, 6-4 on the road the next day.

In doubles play, Stuart and partner Nicolas Guillon fell 3-4 to Georgia Southern’s top duo but rebounded to collect wins over UNCG’s Palmer and Nico Grewe, 6-4, and Furman’s Mitric and Jake Munns, 6-3. Mitric and Munns entered the match 10-2 in doubles play on the year.

Stuart and the Bears (10-12, 3-2 SoCon) host ETSU (15-4, 5-0) on Friday, April 12, and Samford (9-9, 1-4) on Saturday, April 13, to conclude regular-season play.
