HPU's Troutner taken in inaugural PLL draft

STAMFORD, Conn. – Senior Tim Troutner Jr. of the High Point University men's lacrosse team was selected second in the fourth round and 20th overall by the Redwoods in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) College Draft on Wednesday, April 24. He was the only goalie selected in the entire draft.

Troutner is the program's all-time wins leader with 29. He owns the program record for saves at 632 and goals against average at 10.97 on his career. Troutner's .539 save percentage is second all-time in HPU program history. He is second in the record books at High Point in caused turnovers at 56 and in ground balls at 162.

The Annapolis, Maryland, native set the HPU and Southern Conference Championship record for saves in a game with 22 against Jacksonville on May 3, 2018. Troutner posted the only shutout in program history with a 13-0 victory over St. Bonaventure on Feb. 2 this season. He was an All-SoCon second-team honoree in 2018. He has been named SoCon Defensive Player Month twice (April 2018, February 2019) in his career and was a 2019 Preseason All-SoCon selection by Inside Lacrosse and the SoCon coaches.

The senior goalkeeper is the first player in program history to be selected in the PLL. Troutner joins Chris Young, Tanner Landstra, Dan Lomas, Matt Thistle, Pat Parrell, Austin Geisler, Zack Price, Adam Dickson, Connor Robinson, Dallas Bridle and Dan Lomas to be drafted in a professional lacrosse league. He was also selected second overall in the 2019 Major League Lacrosse Draft.
