SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Western Carolina’s Erica Hayes has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from April 17-23. This selection was made by the league office.
In the Catamounts’ road win at Winthrop, she recorded a pair of hits, a pair of runs and a double. In Western Carolina’s win against Appalachian State, she hit the sixth home run of her career, which was the eventual game-winner as the Catamounts would hold on to defeat the Mountaineers 3-2. The Cary, North Carolina, native leads the team with 28 RBIs for the season.
Hayes currently holds a 4.0 grade point average in Special Education Inclusive Ed.
