SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Western Carolina’s Madison Armstrong has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Feb. 27- March 5.
The Gastonia, North Carolina, native ended the week with a .500 batting average with 10 hits, four runs, five RBIs and three double in the Catamounts seven games this week. She saw action at third base and behind the plate while going perfect in the field-not committing a single error. The senior got hits in six of the seven games on the week and had multiple hits in three of the seven games, recording a .650 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage. After her strong week, Armstrong moved up to fourth place in Western Carolina’s record books for doubles in a career (31) and needs just two more to move into second place.
Armstrong, a senior, currently holds a 3.991 grade point average and is a health and physical education major.
