INDIANAPOLIS – Samford senior Karisa Nelson and Wofford sophomore Hannah Steelman will compete at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Birmingham Crossplex on March 8-9.

Nelson qualified for the women's mile event after running the event at the Dr. Sander Invitational and posting a 4:34.81 time. She also won the women's mile at the SoCon Championships this past weekend with a time of 4:38.23.

In 2017, Nelson qualified for the mile and won the national championship in the event – the first and only current national championship across all sports in Samford history. She'll get the chance to win a second title close to home.

Steelman posted her qualifying time of 9:03.22 for the 3,000-meter run at the Camel City Invitational in early February. She was runner-up in the event at the SoCon Championships.
