NEW ORLEANS – Ten Southern Conference cross country teams and three student-athletes were honored Thursday by the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) with All-Academic honors, the organization announced.

Six SoCon men’s teams and four women’s teams earned the All-Academic Team distinction, which requires at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Furman, Samford, Chattanooga and Wofford earned the honor for both its men’s and women’s programs, while The Citadel and ETSU saw their men’s teams honored. Chattanooga's women had the second-highest GPA among Division I programs, while the UTC men had the sixth-best.

ETSU sophomore Ben Varghese and Furman juniors Savannah Carnahan and Emma Grace Hurley were All-Academic Individuals. To earn that honor, student-athletes must carry at least a cumulative 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top 25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or earn All-America honors at the NCAA Championships.
