SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Campbell’s Korbin Meink has been named the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for all competition from Dec. 11-17. The selection is made by the league office.
 
Meink won his first tournament championship of the season at the Reno Tournament of Champions on Dec. 15, posting a perfect 5-0 record. The Omaha, Nebraska, native tallied four bonus-point wins, opening the day with an 18-3 technical fall over Eastern Oregon’s Sam Hyde before taking a 12-1 major decision over Menlo’s Greg Viloria. The junior recorded another major decision over Cal Poly’s Antonio Lorenzo and advanced to the finals with a pin of Fresno State’s Jeremy Trinh. Meink earned the title with a 7-5 decision over Arizona State’s Nick Raimo.
 
The weekly award is the first of Meink’s career.

The Camels will return to action Dec. 29-30 when they travel to Hoffman Estates, Illinois, for the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships.

Also nominated: Cary Miller (Appalachian State) and Tanner Smith (Chattanooga).
