SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNC Greensboro’s Nadine Soliman has been named the Southern Conference women’s basketball player of the week presented by GEICO for games played Dec. 10-16 after nearly averaging a double-double in a pair of contests. The award is selected by the league office.

The guard began the week by scoring a team-high 13 points and pulling down 11 rebounds in a 57-48 loss at crosstown rival North Carolina A&T on Dec. 12. The native of Cairo, Egypt, then scored a game-high 18 points and added eight rebounds in a 69-56 win at College of Charleston on Dec. 16.  She shot 50 percent against the Cougars, finishing 7-for-14 from the floor, including 3-for-7 from beyond the 3-point arc. She added four assists and a block in the win that propelled the Spartans to the top of the conference standings (7-4).

Soliman, who earns her second weekly honor of the season, leads the league in scoring, averaging 19.1 points per game, and is third in the league in rebounding, averaging 7.7 boards per contest. The preseason all-conference selection also leads the league in 3-point field-goal percentage (46.4 percent).

UNCG hosts High Point on Saturday, Dec. 21, in the Spartans’ lone contest of the week.
