Chattanooga kicks off indoor track season

Mocs claim four first-place finishes

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Chattanooga women’s track team opened the indoor season Friday night at the Sewanee Early Season Invitational with four top-place finishes.

Makenzie Jones took first in the women’s 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:25.96 and was followed by freshman Lesley Green in her first collegiate indoor race. She was second with a time of 10:46.16.

Jada Hale too first in her first mile run with a time of 5:49.69 and posted a time of 2:44.82 in the 800-meter run. Sophia Neglia was second in the 800m with a time of 2:33.70.

Newcomer Madelyn Thompson won the women’s 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.62 and the Mocs’ relay team of Hannah Caldwell, Neglia, Emily Poole and Green won the 4x400-meter run with a time of 4:16.40. The Chattanooga B team was third with a time of 4:42.23.

This was the Mocs’ first race of the season as many took exams Friday before heading west for the nearby meet.
