SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman women’s cross country runner Savannah Carnahan has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Nov. 20-26. The selection is made by the league office.
Carnahan earned the second All-American citation of her career on Nov. 23 at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Indiana. The Cummings, Georgia, native led all SoCon runners with a time of 20:25.1 in the 6K race, finishing 13th overall out of 252 runners. Carnahan helped guide the Paladins to ninth as a team after placing 23rd last year.
Carnahan is a double-major in applied mathematics and chemistry and currently holds a 3.89 grade point average.
Furman concluded its season at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
