SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Campbell’s Josh Heil has been named the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for all competition from Nov. 20-26. The selection is made by the league office.

Heil won his second individual tournament title of the season at 141 pounds on Nov. 23 at the Navy Classic in Annapolis, Maryland, as he posted a perfect 4-0 record with wins over a pair of ranked opponents. The Brunswick, Ohio, native opened with a 4-2 decision over Carmine Ciotti of Edinboro before advancing to the semifinals due to a medical forfeit. Heil then took a 5-3 decision over 18^th-ranked Mitch Moore of Virginia Tech to set up a bout with sixth-ranked Kyle Shoop of Lock Haven in the final. Heil walked away victorious after a close battle with Shoop, taking a 2-1 decision for the title.

The weekly award is the first of Heil’s career. 

The Camels will return to action on Dec. 15 at the Reno Tournament of Champions in Reno, Nevada. 

Also nominated: Matt Zovistoski (Appalachian State), Matthew Waddell (Chattanooga) and Neal Richards (VMI).
