GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman’s Natalie Srinivasan is rated seventh in the fall Arnold Palmer Cup Ranking for the 2020 event, which will be held at Ireland’s Lahinch Golf Club, July 3-5.
The top six golfers from the final Arnold Palmer Cup Ranking in the spring from both the United States and International men and women - 12 total golfers - will be among the 24 individuals selected to compete in the Arnold Palmer Cup. The 2020 event will be the third using the expanded format of United States men’s and women’s collegiate golfers versus their counterparts from around the world.
Using Golfstat’s NCAA player ranking as a base, the Arnold Palmer Cup Ranking awards bonus points for wins and high finishes and a penalty for poor finishes. The ranking also contains a strength of schedule component.
The remaining six men’s and women’s spots for the United States will consist of five committee selections, including at least one non-Division I golfer, and a coaches pick. The balance of the International team will include the men’s and women’s winners of The R&A Scholars Tournament, four committee selections and a coaches pick.
The next Arnold Palmer Cup Ranking will be announced on Feb. 20.
A native of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Srinivasan won two tournaments in the fall, the Glass City Invitational and the Lady Paladin Invitational, and paced the Paladins with a 70.67 stroke average over nine rounds in September.
Srinivasan, a Golfweek Preseason All-American, shot a 5-under 211 to claim individual medalist honors at the inaugural Glass City Invitational in Toledo, Ohio. She opened the tournament with a 2-under 70 in each of the first two rounds and closed with a 1-under 71 for a four-stroke victory. Later in September at the Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, South Carolina, Srinivasan also tallied a 5-under 211 for a two-stroke victory. She carded a 1-over 73 and a 2-under 70 in the opening rounds before finishing strong with a 4-under 68 in the final round.
A three-time All-SoCon selection, Srinivasan earned a Golfweek All-American honorable mention citation during the 2018-19 season. She finished in a tie for 17th at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur and concluded her junior campaign ranked 42nd nationally. She led the league and the Paladin team with a 72.7 stroke average over 29 rounds.
Srinivasan, who competed in the 2017 U.S. Women’s Open, earned a WGCA All-America honorable mention citation and claimed Golfweek third-team All-America honors during her sophomore campaign in 2017-18. She tied the Furman low-round record at the time with a 65 in the opening round of the 2018 NCAA Tallahassee Regional, where she went on to finish third. The 2018 Southern Conference Player of the Year, Srinivasan concluded the season ranked 26th nationally after leading Furman with a 72.36 stroke average over 36 rounds last year, the second-best single-season stroke average ever for a Paladin women’s golfer.
