SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s Dillon Dean and Mary Grace Strozier have been named the Southern Conference men’s and women’s cross country runners of the week, respectively, for all competition between Oct. 2-8.

Dean finished ninth at the Louisville Classic in Louisville, Kentucky, which featured 373 runners. The Alexander City, Alabama, native crossed the finish line in a time of 23:55.4 in the 8k race, his best time of the season. Dean helped pace the Bulldogs to13th out of 41 teams.

The weekly award is the second of Dean’s career.

Strozier finished 11th at the Louisville Classic, which featured 343 runners in the women’s 5k race. The Pelham, Alabama, native clocked a time of 17:29.5 to lead the Bulldogs to ninth as a team.

The weekly award is the first of Strozier’s career.

The Bulldogs will run again on Friday, Oct. 18, when they travel to Montevallo, Alabama, for the Blazer Classic.
