SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Sarah-Eve Rhéaume has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition Oct. 9-15. The selection is made by the league office.
Rhéaume finished tied for 13th in a field of 96 golfers at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The Lac-Delage, Canada, native posted a 1-over 73 with an eagle and two birdies in the opening round before firing a career-low 3-under 69 in the second round, which included an eagle and three consecutive birdies. The sophomore added four more birdies in the final round as she carded an even-par 72, giving her a total score of 214 (-2) for the tournament. She helped lead the Paladins to ninth in a field that included 11 of the top 40 teams in the nation according to Golfweek.
The weekly award is Rhéaume’s first of her career.
Furman will conclude the 2019 fall season at the Landfall Tradition Oct. 25-27 in Wilmington, North Carolina.
