SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga’s Alonzo Allen has been named the Southern Conference wrestler of the week for all competition from Jan. 2-Jan 8 the league office announced Wednesday.
Allen defeated 18th nationally ranked Gabriel Townsell at day two of the Southern Scuffle by a 9-7 decision. He then fell to Lock Haven’s Luke Werner by a 9-7 decision before taking down Alex Mackall of Iowa State by an 8-5 decision en route to a fifth-place finish.
The Conyers, Georgia, native is currently 16-4 overall and 1-0 in duals on the season and has recorded one pin.
The Mocs return to the mat on January 11 and 12 when they travel to Hampton, Virginia, to take part in the Virginia Duals.
