SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Appalachian State’s Randall Diabe has been named the Southern Conference wrestler of the week for all competition from Dec. 27-Jan. 1 the league office announced Wednesday.
The Greensboro, North Carolina, native went 2-1 in the 197 pound class at the Southern Scuffle on Tuesday. He was one of three SoCon wrestlers to reach the quarterfinals on the first day of the tournament and reached the quarterfinal with a 3-2 win against The Citadel’s Sawyer Root. His one loss of the day was against the nation’s seventh-ranked wrestler, Oklahoma State’s Dakota Greer.
Diabe is currently 12-3 on the season and 6-1 in duals.
The Mountaineers return to the mat Wednesday as they compete in the second day of the Southern Scuffle before a conference match-up against Gardner-Webb on January 8.
