SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel’s Zane Najdawi has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Dec. 26-Jan. 1.
The senior recorded his third double-double in the last four games, scoring 17 points and pulling down 14 rebounds, on Saturday against Longwood. He also shot 55.6 percent (5-for-9) from the field and was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line. He recorded his 47th multi-block performance with three blocks, giving him 166 for his career, and recorded his 600th career rebound, making his just the 20th player in conference history and second in school history to record 1,000 points, 600 rebounds and 100 blocks in a career.
The Midlothian, Virginia, native currently holds a 3.447 grade point average in sports management and recently completed a 4.0 semester for fall 2018.
The Bulldogs open up conference play on Thursday as they travel to Spartanburg, South Carolina, to take on the Wofford Terriers.
