SPARTANBURG, S.C. – VMI goalkeeper Ceci Keppeler has been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer player of the week for all competition Aug. 27- Sept. 2. The honor is the first of Keppeler’s career and VMI’s first SoCon women’s soccer player of the week in program history.

VMI went 1-0 on the week, downing American 1-0 in double-overtime. The Keydets are 4-0, the lone undefeated team in the conference, and are off to the best start in program history. Keppeler, a senior, recorded a season-high six saves and faced 27 shots, including 16 in the second half alone. The native of Stafford, Virginia earned her second shutout of the year and is now 3-0 this season in goal for VMI.

The Keydets head on the road for the next two contests, at UNC Asheville on Sept. 7 and at Campbell two days later.

Also nominated: Hannah Roth (The Citadel), Kellsey Weaver (Furman), Cienna Rideout (UNCG), Alexa Frankey (Western Carolina) and Dani Segovia (Wofford).
