Wofford’s Shane Berson named player of the week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford goalkeeper Shane Berson has been named the Southern Conference men’s soccer player of the week for all competition Aug. 27-Sept. 2. Berson earned two shutouts in a win and a draw for the Terriers in three games.

Wofford went 1-1-1 on the weekend, picking up a 1-0 win over Winthrop, playing to a scoreless draw with Gardner-Webb in double overtime and dropping a game to UNC Asheville. The redshirt freshman from Greer, South Carolina, totaled six saves while facing 22 shots in three games. Of those 22 shots, Berson allowed only one in while playing 290 minutes.

Wofford is back in action against UNLV on Sept. 7 and California Baptist on Sept. 9.
