SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU forward Sarah Connolly has been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer player of the week for all competition Sept. 17-23.

ETSU started off conference play with two wins over the weekend. The Bucs shut out Furman 1-0 and defeated Wofford 7-1 two days later. The Ballygowan, Northern Ireland native played 85 minutes and had one shot on goal in the home win over the Paladins and then scored four goals in the Bucs’ offensive explosion against the Terriers two days later. Connolly’s four goals came despite the sophomore playing just 47 minutes. She took six shots on the week, all on goal. Her four-goal output marks the most goals scored in a game for the Bucs since 2014.

Connolly leads the team in goals (5), shots on goal (7), points (11), and shots (12).

ETSU’s lone contest of the week is at Western Carolina on Friday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m. The Bucs return home for a nonconference showdown with King on Oct. 1.
