SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s Dillon Dean and ETSU’s Lindsey Stallworth have been named Southern Conference men’s and women’s cross country runners of the week, respectively, for competition that took place Sept. 12-18.
Dean, a junior from Alexander City, Alabama, placed eighth at the Commodore Classic in Nashville, Tennessee, on Saturday. He finished the 8k race with a time of 25:13 and was the first Bulldog to cross the finish line.
Stallworth, a sophomore from Knoxville, Tennessee, paced the Bucs in the Virginia Tech Alumni Invite Friday night. She crossed the line with a time of 22:16 in the 6k race, finishing fourth overall, and had the only time in the top seven that didn’t come from a Virginia Tech runner.
Also nominated for the men was Ben Varghese from ETSU.
The Bulldogs are back in action next week as they head to Oxford, Alabama, to compete at the Jacksonville State University Foothills Invitational on Sept. 29.
The Bucs are also back in action next week as they head to Kentucky to compete at the Louisville Cross Country Classic at Tom Sawyer Park on Sept. 29.
