SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG goalkeeper Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper has been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer player of the week for all competition Aug. 16-19 after she played all 200 minutes in goal for the Spartans on the opening weekend of the season.
UNCG went 1-0-1 on the weekend, picking up a 2-1 win over Gardner-Webb in the opener and playing to a scoreless draw in double overtime at Elon two days later. On the weekend, the sophomore from Charlottesville, Virginia faced 32 shots and totaled a .900 save percentage. At Elon, she made seven saves against the Phoenix, including six in the second half to keep the Spartans alive.
UNCG is back in action against Richmond on Aug. 24 and UNCG on Aug. 26.
