AUSTIN, Texas – UNCG center fielder and sixth round pick of the 2018 MLB Draft Andrew Moritz was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Division I Baseball team as announced Thursday afternoon. This is the second-straight season that Moritz has earned Academic All-American honors. He is a second team selection this season after being a first team honoree a year ago.
The junior outfielder was second in the nation with a .428 batting average this season. He was named the Southern Conference’s Player of the Year and led the league with 61 RBI. Moritz set a new school record by tripling 10 times this season. The junior swiped 12 bases and earned a .991 fielding percentage and reached base in a school-record 47-straight games to close the year. Moritz earned a 3.89 GPA while majoring in accounting during his time at UNCG.
