Furman Draws No. 3 Duke For NCAA First Round Match-Up

The Paladins (20-8) will square off against the Blue Devils (22-3) on Friday, May 11, at the Ambler Tennis Stadium in Durham, N.C., in the ninth meeting between the two schools.  The teams last met in 2014, when Duke defeated Furman, 7-0, in Durham.

Furman is part of a 64-team field that will compete at regional sites May 11 for round one, with 32 teams advancing to the second round, which will be held May 12 at the same regional sites.  The final 16 teams will reach the championships finals which will be played May 17-22 at Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C.

"We are excited to be back at the NCAA tournament," said Furman head coach Adam Herendeen.  "Our team finished the season playing our best tennis of the year, and we look forward to continuing that in a couple of weeks in Durham." 

Furman, which secured the Southern Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament by capturing its 18th SoCon Championship, is making its eleventh appearance in the NCAA tournament.  Duke was the runner-up at the ACC Championship.
