SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Samford's Ars?ne Guillorel and ETSU's Ben Johnson have been named the Southern Conference men's outdoor track and field athletes of the week, respectively, while Furman's Allie Buchalski and Western Carolina's Alisha Blackmon earned the respective women's honors, the conference office announced Wednesday.

Selections were made by panels of the league's track and field coaches and included all competition from April 18-24.

Samford's Guillorel won the 10,000-meter run at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Saturday. The senior from Pontchateau, France, turned in a conference-leading time of 29:00.69 to cruise to the nearly 16-second victory over runner-up Lachlan Cook of the 23rd-ranked Virginia Cavaliers. Guillorel's mark is good for 14th on the NCAA Division I performance list and seventh in the East Region this season. His time was also a meet and facility record.

ETSU's Johnson claimed his second outdoor weekly award of the season after posting a trio of podium finishes in the throws at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia, on Friday and Saturday. The redshirt junior from Nashville, Tennessee, took second in both the javelin and discus throws, turning in marks of 64.36 meters (211 feet, 2 inches) in the former and 49.87 meters (163 feet, 7 inches) in the latter. Johnson also finished third in the hammer throw with school-record heave of 58.89 meters (193 feet, 2 inches), eclipsing his previous school mark by nearly a meter and a half. He is the SoCon leader in the javelin and discus this season and is second in the hammer.

Furman's Buchalski also competed at the Virginia Challenge, winning the 5,000-meter invitational race by more than 17 seconds. The redshirt senior's time of 15:39.17 leads the SoCon this season by more than 10 seconds and is good for fifth on the NCAA Division I performance list and third in the East Region. The weekly award is the sixth of the Johns Creek, Georgia, native's outdoor career, giving her sole possession of the league record she had shared with Western Carolina's Hailey Cook.

Western Carolina's Blackmon becomes the fourth different Catamount female to win the field award this season. The senior from Charlotte, North Carolina, was also in action at the Virginia Challenge, competing in the hammer throw. Blackmon finished sixth in the event with a toss of 53.36 meters (175 feet, 1 inch), a personal best and the top mark in the SoCon this season.?

Also nominated for men's field athlete of the week: Tray Oates (Samford), Di'Joun Huitt (Western Carolina).

Also nominated for women's track athlete of the week: Haley Ward (Samford), Kaitlyn Stone (UNCG), Kerisha Goode (VMI) and Dasha Arnaut (Western Carolina).

Also nominated for women's field athlete of the week: Jessy Page (The Citadel), Alex Williams (Mercer) and Sarah Leckman (VMI).
