SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Cameron Green has been named the Southern Conference men’s tennis player of the week for all matches played March 20-26, the conference announced Tuesday. The Paladins went 1-1 last week, moving to 2-1 in conference play and 13-5 overall. This is the second weekly award of the season for Green and fourth of the year for Furman.

The Sydney, Australia, native started the week with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Robert Herrera of ETSU, earning one of Furman’s two points in the match as the Bucs earned the 5-2 win. In the 7-0 win over Chattanooga, Green picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win at the No. 1 singles spot over the Mocs’ Niklas Gerdes.

At flight one doubles, Green and Jake Munns combined to go 2-0 for the week. On March 23 against ETSU, the pair defeated Juan Lugo and Tasei Miyamoto 6-2 and then the following day, downed Gredes and Simon Bustamante of Chattanooga 6-1. Green and Munns were the only pair to earn a win in doubles play against ETSU.

Furman returns to action on March 30 with a SoCon match at UNCG at 2 p.m. The Paladins continue their road trip through North Carolina with a match at Charlotte on 4:30 p.m. on March 31.
