SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference, Asheville-Buncombe Regional Sports Commission and Ingles announced Friday that Asheville, North Carolina, natives LYRIC and Joe Lasher Jr., will be making encore performances at this year’s Ingles JAMFEST on Sunday, March 4.
Ingles JAMFEST is an outdoor tailgate party and concert that will take place in conjunction with the Southern Conference Basketball Championships presented by General Shale, which run March 1-5 at the U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville. Ingles JAMFEST will take place outside the U.S. Cellular Center at 68 Haywood from 1 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. on March 4.
In addition to music, the Ingles JAMFEST area will also feature food, drink and beer vendors. The Ingles JAMFEST area will be open to the public beginning at 1 p.m., with the first musical act taking the stage at 1:45. Admission is free.
Joe Lasher Jr. is a dynamic rock and new Southern country artist, songwriter and performer whose songs, style and performances appeal to a broad spectrum of music lovers. He has become one of the hottest performers in the Southeast, having performed with the likes of Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts and Montgomery Gentry. He will be touring this summer with Colt Ford and Luke Bryan.
Leeda “Lyric” Jones, best known as Lyric, is a singer-songwriter, musician and music teacher. She is a Western North Carolina favorite and her band LYRIC holds several Mountain Xpress “best of” awards, including, but not limited to: best funk band, best vocalist, best lyricist, best r&b/soul, best singer-songwriter, all around favorite band that gives back to the community.
LYRIC has shared the stage with legends such as Gladys Knight, Booker T. Jones, Little Big Town, Dionne Warwick, Cedric Burnside, Amy Ray (Indigo Girls), Fred Wesley & the Lee Boys, Count M’Butu and Warren Haynes. Lyric is back in the studio working on a new album, which she hopes to release this fall.
Ingles JAMFEST will also benefit Eblen Charities and its Hoops Against Hunger program. Hoops Against Hunger helps to provide snacks and meals to school-age children without enough food at home. Fans attending Ingles JAMFEST are encouraged to bring donations of ready-to-eat or easy-to-serve food items. People donating food items at Ingles JAMFEST can receive a voucher for $5 off a general admission session ticket to the Southern Conference Basketball Championships.
