SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Drew Singerman has been named the Southern Conference men’s tennis player of the week for all matches played Feb. 13-19, the conference announced Tuesday. Singerman went 2-0 at No. 3 singles and was 3-0 at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. The Paladins, who are 9-1, 1-0 in the SoCon, this season, are on a seven-match win streak. This is the second consecutive weekly award for Furman after Cameron Green garnered the award on Feb. 13.

Singerman started the week with a three-set win over Belmont’s Vincent Sterkens on Feb. 17, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. The freshman also paired with Ivan Mitric to earn a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles over Belmont as Furman earned the 5-2 victory. That same day, Singerman and Mitric earned a 6-1 win at the No. 1 position over The Citadel’s Willem van Zyl and Noah Nawabi, helping the Paladins secure their first conference win of the season with a 6-1 victory.  

The Louisville, Kentucky, native rounded out the week with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Gardner-Webb’s Paul Hogan at the No. 3 position. Singerman and Mitric then downed the Runnin’ Bulldogs’ Millen Hurrion and Adam Schmidt 7-6 (7-2) at the No. 2 spot to help Furman secure the 6-1 victory.

Furman is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 24, at Duke and then continues its North Carolina road swing with a 1 p.m. match at NC State on Feb. 25.
