SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer senior Amanda Thompson has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Nov. 21-27
Thompson posted a career-high 18 points and eight steals in the Bears win over Bowling Green on Sunday. She averaged 11.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 4.5 steals over the week, grabbed her fifth career double-double and flirted with a quadruple double with eight steals and six assists. The senior also notched a career-high eight free throws.
The Hayesville, North Carolina, native is majoring in mechanical engineering and currently holds a 4.0 grade point average.
Also nominated for SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week: Lew Stallworth (The Citadel) and Austin Herink (ETSU) and Lakelyn Bouldin (Chattanooga Women’s Basketball).
