SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel’s Lew Stallworth was named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for all contests from Nov. 20-26 after averaging 24.0 points per game in road wins over James Madison and USF. The award is selected by the league office.
Stallworth scored a career-high 26 points on 10-for-18 shooting in 39 minutes of the Bulldogs’ 91-82, overtime win at James Madison on Nov. 20, also pulling down five rebounds and handing off six assists to just one turnover.
At USF on Nov. 24, the graduate transfer guard from Los Angeles, California, netted 22 points and pulled down six rebounds in an 84-81 win. He was 8-for-14 from the floor and dished off another five assists.
For the week, Stallworth averaged 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game. He was 18-for-32 (.563) from the floor and 11-for-12 (.917) from the free-throw line. He’s now scored at least 20 points in three straight games, matching his career total of 20-point efforts from his previous three seasons of collegiate action.
The Citadel, off to a 4-2 start to the season, hosts High Point on Tuesday before opening conference play with a home game against Mercer on Saturday.
