CHICAGO – Voting for the 2018 STATS FCS legacy awards began Monday, and the Southern Conference produced a combined nine finalists from five schools for the four awards.
Samford quarterback Devlin Hodges and wide receiver Kelvin McKnight and Western Carolina quarterback Tyrie Adams were among the 25 finalists for the Walter Payton Award, which honors the FCS Offensive Player of the Year.
ETSU defensive lineman Nasir Player, Samford defensive end Ahmad Gooden and Chattanooga defensive lineman Isaiah Mack were among the 25 finalists for the Buck Buchanan Award, which honors to the FCS Defensive Player of the Year.
ETSU running back Quay Holmes and Furman bandit Adrian Hope were among the 20 finalists for the Jerry Rice Award, which recognizes the FCS Freshman Player of the Year.
Finally, ETSU head coach Randy Sanders was among the 15 finalists for the Eddie Robinson Award, which honors the FCS Coach of the Year.
