Penner named student-athlete of the week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG setter Allison Penner has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held Oct. 17-23.

The Aurora, Nebraska, native helped the Spartans to a 1-1 record last week. She averaged 10.50 assists, 1.38 kills, 2.00 digs per set, 0.50 blocks and 0.25 services aces per set on the week. Against Mercer on Friday, she nearly recorded a triple-double with nine kills, 48 assists and 11 digs.

Penner is an accounting major and currently holds a 3.92 grade point average.

The Spartans continue conference play as they are set to take on Western Carolina on Wednesday, Samford on Friday, and Chattanooga on Saturday.
