SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Campbell heavyweight Jere Heino has been named the Southern Conference wrestler of the week for all competition held Jan. 24-30, the league office announced Wednesday.

A junior from Helsinki, Finland, Heino went 2-0 in SoCon action last week. Heino scored a 3-2 decision over Appalachian State’s No. 32-ranked Cary Miller in the Camels’ 18-12 loss on Thursday. Heino followed up that performance by pinning Davidson’s Will Cooley in 1:11 on Friday.

Heino, who is 15-5 on the season, and the Camels (5-7, 2-1 SoCon) host The Citadel (1-7, 0-3) on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Also nominated: Codi Russell (Appalachian State), John Muldoon (SIUE) and Alonzo Allen (Chattanooga).
