SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG women’s basketball player Nadine Soliman has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held Jan. 24-30, the league office announced Wednesday.
A native of Cairo, Egypt, Soliman had a career-high 33 points against Western Carolina, helping the Spartans top the Catamounts for the first time since the 2010-11 season. Soliman, a sophomore, went 7-for-7 from 3-point range, tying a UNCG record for made 3-pointers in a single game.
A business administration major, Soliman holds a 3.67 grade point average.
Also nominated for SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week: Andrew Arlint (VMI men’s track and field) and Lauren LaPlant (Western Carolina women’s basketball).
