GREENVILLE, S.C. - After weekend wins over No. 4 Denver and Air Force, Furman redshirt freshman goalkeeper Ben Hale was named Top Drawer Soccer's National Player of the Week on Monday and the Paladins entered the Soccer America Top 25 at No. 10. Furman also entered Top Drawer Soccer's Top 25 at No. 13 and College Soccer News' Top 30 Poll at No. 18 this week.

Hale recorded 11 saves and two shutouts this past weekend to lead the Paladins to a 1-0 victory at No. 4 Denver on Friday and 1-0 victory at Air Force on Sunday. The weekend sweep on the road improved Furman to 4-0-0 this season.

Hale turned away four shots in over 108 minutes of action on Friday as the Paladins snapped Denver's 37-match regular season winning streak. The Frisco, Texas, native made two diving stops in the first half and came off of his line to turn away a point-blank shot in a one-versus-one situation midway through the second half. On Sunday, Hale stretch his shutout run to 296:19 by stopping seven shots as Furman claimed its second road victory at high altitude in less than 48 hours with a 1-0 triumph in Colorado Springs, Colo.

A former member of the United State U-19 National Team, Hale missed last season and redshirted after tearing his ACL in the academy championship match in July 2016.

Ealier on Monday, Furman midfielder Danny Kierath was named to the College Soccer News Team of the week after scoring in the 109th minute on Friday night to lift the Paladins to the 1-0 victory at fourth-ranked Denver (4-1-0).

Furman's appearance in the national rankings is its first since the first week of October 2016.

The Paladins open their 2017 home schedule on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. versus UNC Asheville on Seagraves Field at Stone Soccer Stadium.
