MACON, Ga. – Mercer Men’s Soccer senior forward Will Bagrou has been selected as a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award. Bagrou is one of only 30 men’s soccer student-athletes in NCAA Division I to be named a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as a senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
Bagrou is the lone SoCon representative on the list and deservedly so as he leads Mercer and the SoCon in goals (4), goals per game (0.57) and points (8). Bagrou remains on the top of the list among active career SoCon leaders for points (71), goals (29) and game-winning goals (10).
The candidate class will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 named will be placed on the official ballot which will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to the media, coaches and fans. The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2017 NCAA Men’s and Women’s College Cup® championship in December.
