CATAMOUNT CROSS COUNTRY TAKES SECOND AT THE WCU CROSS COUNTRY FESTIVAL
CULLOWHEE, N.C. - For the 11th straight season, the Western Carolina men's and women's cross country programs opened their season at home by hosting the newly named Western Carolina Cross Country Festival. Both the men's and women's programs each finished second in their respective races with junior Kaitlyn Lingard picking up the best individual finish as she placed fourth in the women's two mile race.
Lingard finished among a pack of runners from the University of Georgia who took six of the top seven spots in the race. Lingard turned in a time of 10:58.17 which bested her time from last year's event by 45 seconds. UNCG OPENS SEASON AT ELON UNIVERSITY OPENER
BURLINGTON, N.C. – Kicking off the 2017 season, UNCG cross country fared well at the Elon University Opener, with the Spartan women taking seventh and the men's team claiming an eighth-place finish.
It was an all freshmen lineup for the UNCG women, with Ariana Garcia leading the charge for the Spartans with a 25th-place finish in 15:28. Josie McGee wasn't far behind, posting a 15:48 to take 35th. Read More
THE CITADEL FINISHES CAROLINA CHALLENGE ON SATURDAY
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel's men's and women's cross country teams completed the Carolina Challenge hosted by the Gamecocks in Columbia, South Carolina, on Saturday.

MEN THIRD, WOMEN SIXTH AT MEMPHIS TWILIGHT
MEMPHIS, Tenn. --- John Payne led the Mocs to a third place finish Saturday night at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic while transfer Emily Poole led the women to a sixth place finish.
"Both teams finished well," Chattanooga head coach Andy Meyer said. "They followed the early season race plan and started conservatively and finished strong."
The men were third out of 18 teams, finishing behind Middle Tennessee (25) and Ole Miss (47) with 124 points. Payne was 15th overall with a time of 20:44.68 on the four-mile course.
