SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford forward Jermaine Seoposenwe has been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer player of the week for all competition from Aug. 21-27 after scoring two goals and registering an assist against Florida State and Michigan State. 

Despite Seoposenwe’s best efforts, Samford went 0-2 last week, first falling to sixth-ranked Florida State 4-2. In the 10th minute, Seoposenwe registered an assist, setting up her teammate to tie the game at one goal apiece.

Against Michigan State, the senior dribbled by the defense and finished to tie the game 1-1 in the 28th minute. After the Spartans went ahead 2-1, Seoposenwe answered again when she volleyed in a cross to once again tie the game up. 

The senior, who competed in the 2016 Olympic Games for South Africa, scored 16 goals in 2016 and has three so far in 2017.
Samford returns to the pitch Friday, traveling to Alabama State to face the Hornets at 8 p.m. (ET).
