Link, Shipp Show Well for UNCG at Aggie Last Chance
GREENSBORO, N.C. – With the outdoor season winding down, UNCG's Katherine Link and Dakarai Shipp represented the Blue and Gold well Sunday at the Aggie Last Chance.
Link and Shipp were the only two Spartans in action at the local meet. Link finished first in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, posting a time of 10:58.33 to outpace the only other runner in the race, unattached Taylor Brown. In the 1,500 meters, Shipp took fifth after completing the circuit in 4:06.85.
The Aggie Last Chance is the only meet on UNCG's schedule remaining prior to the NCAA East Regional. Qualifying athletes will race in Lexington, Kentucky May 25-27.

VMI Men Wrap Up Season at IC4A Championships | Results
PRINCETON, N.J. – Jordan White and Jay Broom were in action as the VMI men's track and field team wrapped up its season Sunday at the IC4A Championships in Princeton, New Jersey.
Broom, who also competed in the 5K at this meet on Friday, finished 29th in the 1,500-meters with a time of 3:56.76. White, meanwhile, finished up his collegiate career with a 20th-place finish in the discus (46.40 M/152'3").
"We had a solid season this year," said VMI head coach Darrin Webb. "Jay Broom really took a step forward, qualifying for IC4A's in two events, and Jordan and Brandon White both showed excellent leadership in wrapping up their respective collegiate careers. I'm proud of our seniors for everything that accomplished, and proud of our whole team for the talent and fortitude they showed this entire season."
Small Group of Catamounts Compete at Aggie Last Chance Meet
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Seven Western Carolina track & field student-athletes travelled to Greensboro, N.C., Sunday to compete in the Aggie Last Chance meet hosted by North Carolina A&T. Two women and five men competed on Sunday with freshman Jazmine Gooden bringing home the top finish with a fourth place showing in the women's long jump.
The Catamounts were unable to improve on their marks but still had a successful day at the track. Gooden took fourth in the long jump with a mark of 5.68m (18-07.75). Senior Tiffani Lewis finished four spots back in eighth with a distance of 5.63m (18-05.75).
Gooden also competed in the 100m hurdles where she placed 11th after racing down the track in 15.66.
On the men's side it was junior Mateius Brown who led the way with a sixth place finish in the discus. He tossed the element 44.17m (144-11).
Junior Kevin Hires took home an eighth place finish in the triple jump as he stopped the tape at 14.76m (48-05.25).
Sophomore Devyn Montel Jones competed in the 110m hurdles where he placed 12th. He posted a time of 14.61 in the event.
The final two competitors for the Catamounts were juniors Henry Kiedi and Dakota Lamont. The pair competed in the 400m where Kiedi finished 17th and Lamont took 21st. Kiedi circled the track in 47.88 while Lamont came in at 48.22.
Currently the Catamounts have two male competitors and five female in contention to getting an invite to the NCAA East Preliminary Round. Junior Keion Crossen currently ranks 36th in the 100m in the East Region with the top-48 getting an invite the East Preliminary Round. Lamont sits just outside the top-48 in 53rd in the 400m.
On the women's side sophomore Dasha Arnaut sits at 43rd in the 400m hurdles while senior Chenell Bryan and Gooden both rank among the top-48 in the long jump. Bryan is ranked 41st while Gooden sits in 44th. Senior Hailey Cook ranks 44th in the shot put while junior Meghan Breden sits on the outside looking in as she sits in 59th in the pole vault.
The NCAA East Preliminary Round is scheduled to begin Thursday, May 25 and will run through Saturday, May 27 in Lexington, Kentucky.
