SPARTANBURG, S.C. – VMI distance runner Brandon White has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held April 12-18, the league office announced Wednesday.
White posted the second-fastest 10-meter run time in school history on Friday in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, at Bucknell’s Bison Outdoor Classic. White completed the race in 30:41.42 to place 26th overall, achieving a career personal best. White’s time of 30:41.42 currently ranks fifth on the SoCon outdoor performance list and is No. 86 in the East Regional.
In the classroom, White boasts a 3.65 grade point average as a Psychology major.
The General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week recognizes student-athletes that hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 and whose sport is currently in-season. Nominees must have also completed at least one full academic year at their respective institutions.
