SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Alory Pereira has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played February 27 through March 5. Pereira was a perfect 4-0 in all competition last week as the Bucs picked up wins over Georgia State (4-3) and Savannah State (7-0).

The Sao Paolo, Brazil, native began the week at No. 3 singles and claimed a 6-0, 6-4 win over Georgia State’s Daniela Ramirez. Pereira then moved up to the No. 2 singles position and cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Savannah State’s Rachida el Kateb.

Paired with Yi Chi Ma at No. 2 doubles for ETSU, the tandem of Pereira and Ma came away with a 6-4 victory over GSU’s Kristin Rehse and Damira Mumunovic. They closed the week with a 6-2 win over Savannah State’s Jennyfer Vivas an el Kateb.

With two singles wins last week, Pereira has now won three straight singles matches this spring.

The Bucs (5-4) return to action March 17 when they host Chattanooga (10-2, 1-0 SoCon).

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Mercer’s Katia Stavroulaki, UNCG’s Masey DeMoss, Samford’s Savannah Wood, Chattanooga’s Samantha Caswell, and Wofford’s Curran Carver.
