SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga redshirt-senior Wes Gosselin has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for competition held March 22-28, the league office announced Wednesday.

Gosselin tied for second at the Furman Intercollegiate, missing his third collegiate win by one shot. His 10-under total of 206 marks just the eighth time a Moc has been under par in an event by double-digit strokes in program history. Gosselin’s round total of 206 (-10) is the best score by a Chattanooga golfer since Stephan Jaeger’s 203 (-13) when Jaeger won the 2012 NCAA Bowling Green Regionals.

Gosselin, a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, shot 71-67-68 en route to his 206 which gives him eight straight par or better cards at the Furman University Golf Club, spanning over the last three spring seasons. Gosselin also moved into third place in school history with 56 par or better performances, passing Derek Rende (54, 2007-10) and behind only Web.com Tour professionals Stephan Jaeger (69, 2009-12) and Jonathan Hodge (64, 2006-09).

In the classroom, Gosselin boasts a 3.84 grade point average as an Exercise Science major.

The General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week recognizes student-athletes that hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 and whose sport is currently in-season. Nominees must have also completed at least one full academic year at their respective institutions.
