SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Olivier Stuart has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played March 13-19. Stuart went 4-0 last week as the Bears won two matches to move to 17-2 on the season. Mercer claimed a 5-2 win over Wofford before sweeping Georgia Southwestern (7-0).

The freshman from Bussy Saint-Georges, France, claimed a pair of straight-set wins at No. 3 singles. Stuart claimed a 6-2, 6-4 win over Wofford’s Parks Schoen and cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Beau Millwood. He has now won his last three matches and is 12-2 at No. 3 singles this spring.

After beginning the season at No. 3 doubles, Stuart has moved up to the top doubles pair, teaming with Sam Philp. Stuart and Philp went 2-0 last week, holding off Wofford’s Haris Poric and Julian Chousa, 6-4, before taking a 6-2 decision over Georgia Southwestern’s Steven Blythe and Oliver Marshall.

Mercer (17-2, 2-0 SoCon) returns to action Friday (March 24) when the Bears host ETSU (6-6, 2-0 SoCon).

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included ETSU’s Julian Lugo and Wofford’s Lucas Cerbelli.
